Zuber Conservation at Belvoir Mansion
During the month of September 2008, the scenic "Views of America" by Zuber received conservation treatment. Many of the panels has seperated from the walls requiring plaster repair, sizing and readhering. In one panel , moisture had completely pulverized an area with several characters requiring repair and inpainting.

Mount Pleasant
In 2008, Historic Wallpaper Specialties installed block printed wallpaper by Adelphi, in Mount Pleasant's formal rooms. Mount Pleasant is located directly across the James River from Jamestown and had a hand in its survival.

President Andrew Johnson's Homestead
In 1869, after his Presidental tour, Andrew Johnson returned to his home in Greenville Tennessee where the walls were soon papered.

Ben Lomond Historic Site
During the Civil War this house was occupied by Confederate and later by Unions troops. Graffiti left by both sides has undergone conservation. This house is unique in that it is the only house HWS has installed liner but not reproduction wallpaper. You can read about this fascinating project and learn why wallpaper was not used.

Boldman House
The Boldman House Museum depicts the Boldman family who resided in the house from 1912 until the death of Glady Boldman in 1999. Wallpaper was hung on muslin over planks in the stair/hall and a bedroom.

The Bolling Eldridge House
This privately owned circa 1822 home located in Lynchburg, VA.  boosts exquisite millwork and after a recent restoration touts multiple rooms of reproduction wallpaper including the French scenic "Scenic America"

Chickasaw White House
Once considered a mansion on the frontier, it was home to Chickasaw Oklahoma Governor Doughlas Henry Johnston and his family from 1898 to 1971.

Colorado Cabin
A privately owned 1880's miner's cabin, with plank walls, was hung with muslin tacked over the planks to provide a free floating surface for reproduction wallpapers.   Jim's muslin project  won the 1999 Paperhanging project of the year.

Farmington
Located in Louisville, Kentucky, this 14 room Federal-style home was built in 1815.  In the summer of 1841, an up and coming politician named Abraham Lincoln paid a three week visit to Farmington's owner and closest friend, Joshua Speed. During the month of March 2002, Adelphi reproduction blockprinted wallpapers were installed in two Jeffersonian inspired octagonal rooms, the dining room and the parlor.  The parlor wallpaper, a reproduction of "Pebble Pot" was found at the Pope Villa in Lexington, KY..

Frederick Douglass House
In 1877 Frederick Douglass purchased his home which he named Cedar Hill. The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the most famous 19th century African American. His life was a testament to the courage and persistence that serves as an inspiration to those who struggle in the cause of liberty and justice.


Vice President's John C. Calhoun's, "Fort Hill"
Located in Clemson, South Carolina, this early 19th century rambling frame structure was the pride of the twice Vice president. Today it is undergoing an extensive restoration.  Like it's early decoration the plank walls are being stretched over with tacked muslin then covered with reproduction wallpapers and borders.

Hixon House
Started in 1869, this La Crosse, Wisconsin victorian was the home of lumber baron Joseph Gideon. It touts several rooms of original wallpaper and has recently received reproduction wallpapers produced by Laura McCoy Designs Inc.

Harper House
The Harper House is the finest example of Queen Anne interior styling in the state of North Carolina. Constructed in 1887, each of the 21 rooms ceiling and walls will receive elaborate Victorian wallpapers and borders.  

Isaiah Davenport House
This 1820's building is renowned for being the first  Historic Savannah Foundations restoration project. This 2001 project consisted of 5 rooms and a three level stair area of  period blockprinted wallpapers from Adelphia paper-hangings.

Josephus W. Hall House
The restoration of this antebellum home located in Salisbury, North Carolina included the installation of reproduction wallpaper by Twigs. The wallpaper was installed on stretched muslin over planks.

Historic Kenmore  
Built in the1770's, this was the Fredricksburg,Virginia home of Fielding and Betty Washington Lewis. Betty was the sister of George Washington. In March 2004, a yellow ochre hand joined wallpaper reproduced by Adelphi Paper Hangings was installed in the main entry and stairs.

Lyman Museum: Hawaii
This is one of Hawaii's oldest wooden structures. Built in the 1830's on the island of Hawaii in Hilo, it served as home of the Lyman's and their seven children. It serves as a boarding school for boys and was visited Mark Twain and  Royalty from the islands. Reproduction wallpapers installed in October 2004

Magoffin Home State Historic Site
The Magoffin Home, located in El Paso, was built in 1875 by pioneer Joseph Magoffin.  The nineteen room, adobe home is a prime example of Territorial style architecture

McFaddin-Ward House
Located in Beaumont Texas, the third floor of this this Beaux-Arts Mansion received period wallpapers one of which was a reproduction from the original. That paper, found in the bath, was reproduced by Laura McCoy Designs.

Meridian Opera House
Whereas most late nineteenth century opera houses interior walls were stenciled and painted, all the walls and most ceiling in this one were wallpapered. After extensive research removing layer after layer, the earliest wallcovering were reproduced by EverGreene Painting Studios.

My Old Kentucky Home
Federal Hill, a mid-nineteenth century Georgian Mansion, was the inspiration for Stephen Foster's "My Old Kentucky Home". The house is currently undergoing extensive interior renovations.

Washington Place - Hawaii
Home of Hawaii's last reigning monarch, Queen Lili'uokalani. Since 1922 it has served as the Governor's Mansion. During this restoration, a collaborative venture between Historic Wallpapering Specialties and WRNA resulted in wallpaper being installed upon stretched muslin over planks in the Queen's bedroom. Period wallpaper selection by Laura McCoy Designs.

Waveland
This circa 1850's Greek Revival Kentucky mansion is a pillar in Bluegrass history and tradition: Daniel Boone and the Bryan family, Bryan's Station, the Civil War, trotting horses, and racing in the Bluegrass. The reproduction wallpapers and borders for this current restoration project five will be supplied by Carter & Co.

President James Buchanan's  Wheatland
Located in Lancaster, Pa, Wheatland was the home of Pennsylvania's only president, James Buchanan. The restoration of the parlor consisted of a blockprinted reproduction by Adelphi Paper-hangings.

President Andrew Jackson's, Hermitage
This is the home of Andrew Jackson located in Nashville, Tennessee. Jim managed this WRNA project  where reproduction block printed wallpapers were installed.  Also installed a set of "Telemachus" by Dufour, block printed circa 1818, in the upper hallway.

Lanier
This historic house museum, located in  Madison, Indiana, received block printed wallpapers and borders. WRNA installed various rooms and a set of Zuber et Cie  "Decor Chinois."

President Martin Van Buren's, Lindenwald
Located in Kinderhook, New York, this house museum had many rooms installed with reproduction wallpapers by WRNA.

Prestwould Plantation
The late eighteenth century house museum is located in Clarksville, Virginia. WRNA installed reproduction wallpapers and borders, printed by Scalamandre..

Riversdale  
This WRNA project is a  historic house located in Riversdale, Maryland  where an antique French scenic by Dufour, circa 1818, was installed..

St. Thomas Governor's Mansion
Located in the Virgin Islands, the Governor's Mansion was a WRNA project consisting of hanging muslin on battens over plaster walls. An archival paper was applied  to the muslin and then the paper was painted with distemper.

The White House  
The Blue Room was installed by WRNA with period wallpapers and borders selected by the Committee for the Preservation of the White House and  printed by Brunschwig & Fils.

Villa Louis
Jim served as the project manager for WRNA for the installation of block printed wallpaper, borders, ingrains, and lincrusta for this Grand Victorian located in Madison, Prairie Du Chien.
